"Inside/ Outside"
Region N2 Smaller Scales Houseparty
Fresno, CA - 2007
Thursday Night Workshop Pictures

The Thursday night workshop project was not disclosed to any of the attendees until they arrived. All of the Steering Committe members completed the project ahead of time to use as a proto-type for teaching. 177 people signed up to take the mystery workshop, which was a two-room themed vignette with both an inside and outside room. The project was designed by Joan McLean and the kits were made by Debbie Young and Jeff Packard. The project was designed to hold the Houseparty souvenirs which were not disclosed or placed in the proto-types. The souvenirs were Inside and Outside Fireplaces made by Braxton Payne and a Wicker Rocking Chair by Claire Downard.
This is my proto-type project and is only the second 1/4 scale project I have ever done. I was amazed at how quickly and easily I was able to complete it.  Shown here is how it looks after the final touches were added at home after the Houseparty. The outdoor fireplace (shown below)  was so stunning that I decided to showcase it in a separate setting, and opted instead to add a Patio Table & Chairs which were roundtable kits by Jeff Packard. Besides the souvenir rocker, included in my finished project are a number of totebag favors. Shown are a Wall planter (Jeanne Christoferson), daffodils on table (Petal Pushers Club), and Garden hose, barely visable near door ( Marty Godbout, Carol Tierce, Terri Young & Karen Sechler).

Note the tiny bird on the birdhouse made by Joan, Barbara and their committee.
Here is the inside room. Shown is the indoor fireplace by Braxton Payne. The overstuffed chairs were dsigned by Joan McLean and made by Jeff Packard. Bookcase and credenza kits were made by Debbie Young. Shown are more totebag favors including a Mantle Clock (Sally Manwell), arrangement on credenza (Carla Smith), and Poodle (Sharon Granicy). Candlestick and Daisies on mantle are also from totebags and I apologize for not knowing who made them.  (Please "click here" to contact me if you know). The plant on floor was a table exchange gift. All other accessories by Barbara Fairbanks and the committee.

Committee members set up tables in preparation for the Thursday Night "Mystery" Workshop.
And there wasn't an empty seat as 177 people took a chance on the surprise. No one was disappointed and there awasn't a single kit left!
Many thanks to Joan McLean, Barbara Fairbanks and all of the Steering Committee who made this such a memorable Houseparty. It may have been my first Smaller Scales, but it surely won't be my last! I think all the 233 attendees will agree this was one to remember.

Please check back soon as more photos are coming!
